Atiku’s camp reacts as political tsunami hits PDP

A political tsunami has started ravaging the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

This followed the defection of the party’s former Vice Presidential running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Recall that Okowa, a former governor of Delta State, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Wednesday.

Okowa’s defection to APC was made public shortly after a meeting at Delta State Government House in Asaba.

He explained that his decision was not a wrong step, stressing that he was on the right path.

“Be assured that we will not go in the wrong direction. We will take the best direction, the best path for our people,” Okowa said.

Similarly, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State also dumped the PDP for the ruling APC.

Oborevwori’s defection was part of the outcome of the meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the PDP in the state.

Speaking on the development, Senator James Manager made it clear that the exodus was total: “All PDP members in the state, including the governor, former Governor Okowa, the Speaker, the state party chairman, all local government chairmen, and others, have agreed to move to the APC. We cannot continue to be in a sinking boat.”

Posting on X, Atiku’s Special Assistant on Public Communication, Prank Shaibu wrote: “From critics of the choir to lead singers overnight— what a miraculous political conversion.”
