More governors to join APC soon

The wave of political defections sweeping across Nigeria continues, as more state governors prepare to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori recently made headlines by leaving the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aligning with the APC, a move that has heightened political speculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule confirmed that Oborevwori’s shift to the APC would not be the last, adding that several other governors are set to follow suit.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Governor Sule expressed optimism about the growing interest in the APC, noting that many political figures, including governors, are eager to join the party.

Governor Sule attributed this surge in defections to the reforms and leadership of President Bola Tinubu, with many politicians admiring the president’s leadership style.

He emphasized that during meetings with the president, the enthusiasm and excitement from the governors are evident, as they feel welcomed and appreciated by the administration.

While the exact number of governors expected to defect remains unclear, it is anticipated that more political leaders will align with the APC in the coming months, signaling a significant shift in the nation’s political landscape.
