Abia Assembly member finally dumps PDP for LP

The Labour Party, LP, on Tuesday increased its majority in the Abia State House of Assembly as the member representing Bende North, Nnamdi Ibekwe officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the LP.

His membership of LP was announced during plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa.

This is coming six days after Ibekwe announced his resignation from the PDP because of what he called party crises.

The development is a setback for the PDP whose leaders at the state and zonal levels have been making efforts to reunite.

As at the time of filing this report, the Abia State chapter of PDP is yet to react to the defection of the lawmaker.
