Nigerian Troops Repel Terrorist Attack Neutralizing Scores of Insurgents

In a significant operation, troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a terrorist attack on their location in Izge, resulting in the neutralization of numerous insurgents and the capture of eight combat enablers. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of May 7, 2025, showcased the exceptional resolve and professionalism of the troops involved.

According to Captain Reuben Kovangiwa, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the troops demonstrated remarkable bravery during the prolonged firefight, forcing the terrorists to flee in disarray. Pursuing the retreating insurgents, the troops neutralized over seven additional terrorists, with many seen fleeing with gunshot wounds. This daring operation not only resulted in significant losses for the terrorists but also sent a strong message about the commitment of the troops to ensure a terrorist-free environment.

The successful operation also led to the recovery of several items, including a motorcycle, ten bicycles, and a PKT automatic machine gun with ammunition belts. Furthermore, another attempted assault by the terrorists at Mallamfatori was thwarted, resulting in devastating consequences for the attackers. The theatre commander praised the troops for their bravery, urging them to sustain their momentum in the fight against terrorism.
