In a heart-wrenching revelation, veteran Nollywood actor Tito Harrison has shared his courageous battle with a debilitating liver condition and chronic ulcer, which left him bedridden and financially devastated. The actor’s harrowing experience is a testament to the harsh realities of health crises and the importance of unwavering support.
During a candid interview on Biola Bayo’s podcast, Harrison laid bare the sacrifices he made to cover his medical expenses, including selling his house, cars, and belongings. As his financial difficulties worsened, he was forced to move in with his mother-in-law, a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. Amidst the darkest moments, Harrison’s wife emerged as his rock, standing by him unwaveringly even when others abandoned him.
Harrison’s heartfelt words underscore the significance of his wife’s unwavering support: “When I was battling with liver disease and a chronic ulcer, my wife stood by me when everybody left me. It is good to have a good wife.” He poignantly expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sold my house, car, and everything I had to pay hospital bills. After moving to a rented house, I couldn’t afford the rent again, so we had to stay at my mother-in-law’s place. If I come to this world again, it is my wife I will marry.”
The actor’s ordeal was further compounded by the hurtful actions of his colleagues in the movie industry, who chose to publicly mock his struggles instead of offering support. Harrison recalled a particularly painful incident: “There was a time they interviewed someone, and he said, ‘Tito Harrison is finished. He’s now living in his wife’s mother’s house.’ I have the publication. Even if it’s true, must you say it? Even if it had been so, if you can’t rally around me, you don’t vilify me or kill my reputation.” His words serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and kindness, especially in times of need.
