Zamfara State Government Returns 3000 Recovered Rustled Animals to Owners in 15 Months

Zamfara Govt returns 3,000 rustled animals to rightful owners

In a significant milestone, the Zamfara State Government has successfully returned 3,000 rustled animals to their rightful owners over the past 15 months. This achievement is a result of the collaborative efforts of security agents and the Committee on the Verification of Recovered Rustled Animals. The committee, led by Chairman Sheikh Sa’idu Maikwano, has been working tirelessly to verify and return the recovered animals, which include cows, sheep, goats, and others.

According to Sheikh Maikwano, the committee’s success can be attributed to the effective supervision of the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, and the necessary support provided by Governor Dauda Lawal. The committee’s efforts have not only brought relief to the owners of the rustled animals but have also generated significant revenue for the state. In addition to returning the animals, the committee has recovered N120 million from the auction of overstayed animals, which has been remitted to the state Zakkat Board account.

The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to returning all recovered rustled animals to their rightful owners. He praised the committee for their dedication and effective discharge of their duties, emphasizing the importance of their work in maintaining peace and stability in the state. The successful recovery and return of the rustled animals demonstrate the government’s efforts to address the issue of animal rustling and promote a sense of security among the community.

The return of the 3,000 rustled animals is a significant achievement, and the committee’s work has brought hope to many families who had lost their livelihoods due to animal rustling. As the government continues to work towards recovering and returning more rustled animals, the people of Zamfara State can expect a safer and more secure environment for their livestock. The committee’s efforts serve as a model for other states to follow, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and effective governance in addressing the issue of animal rustling.
