Ex Militant Leader Denies Involvement in Murder of Bayelsa Governor’s In Law

Endurance, ex-Niger Delta agitator, denies involvement in killing of Gov. Diri’s in-law — Daily Nigerian

A former Niger Delta agitator, Endurance Amagbein, has publicly disassociated himself from the alleged killers of Governor Douye Diri’s in-law, Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha. In a statement issued by his media assistant, Mightywind Dudafa, in Abuja, Amagbein called on his political enemies to allow him to live in peace. The Bayelsa Police Command had earlier announced the arrest of the suspected killers of Ogbolosingha, who was the Paramount Ruler of Kalaba community in Yenagoa Local Government Area.

According to the police, one of the suspects, Clever Ovo, confessed that they were Amagbein’s associates. Additionally, another suspect, Daniel Williams, was caught with equipment while attempting to vandalize pipelines and allegedly claimed he was contacted by Amagbein. However, Amagbein denies any knowledge of Ovo or Williams, stating that they do not know him and he does not know them. He believes that certain pipeline surveillance contractors are trying to falsely accuse him and resume hostilities.

Amagbein had openly supported the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Bayelsa governorship election due to his admiration for Governor Diri. Nevertheless, he alleges that his political enemies are scheming to turn the Bayelsa government against him by coercing the suspected killers into confessing that they are associated with him. Amagbein claims that these false allegations are motivated by the perception that the PDP is granting him immunity, and his enemies are trying to set the state government against him.

Despite facing challenges and false accusations, Amagbein remains committed to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. He urges his fellow Ijaw struggle platform members to support the president and has called on security agencies to decisively prosecute anyone caught committing crimes. Amagbein emphasizes that he does not have any associates in the creeks and has never instructed anyone to engage in criminal activities.

In his statement, Amagbein expressed confidence that the truth will eventually come to light, and he will be recognized for his philanthropic efforts and kind deeds. He is determined to clear his name and demonstrate his commitment to peaceful and positive change. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the security agencies and the government will respond to Amagbein’s claims and the allegations against him.
