Rangers humble Katsina United 4-0 in Enugu — Daily Nigerian

In a thrilling match, Rangers International FC of Enugu secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Katsina United FC in the 36th week of the Nigeria Premier Football League. The game, which took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, marked Rangers’ final home match of the season.

The first half saw veteran player Godwin Obaje score a remarkable brace, with goals in the 10th and 15th minutes, giving Rangers a solid 2-0 lead at halftime. Despite a strong comeback effort from Katsina United in the second half, they were unable to score, with Rangers’ defense holding strong under pressure.

The turning point in the game came when Fidelis Illechukwu, Rangers’ Technical Adviser, made three strategic changes that significantly impacted the outcome. Midfielder Saviour Issac scored in the 78th minute, further increasing Rangers’ lead, and substitute C Igwilo sealed the win with a goal in the 90th minute, making the final score 4-0.

In a post-match interview, Illechukwu expressed his disappointment with the team’s current position in the league, citing a lack of funding as a major factor. “I appeal to the state government to come to our aid,” he said, emphasizing his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance this season. Despite the win, Rangers remains in 8th place in the 20-team league with 52 points, according to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria.

The victory marks a notable win for Rangers, but the team’s overall performance this season has been somewhat lackluster. As the season draws to a close, fans and supporters will be watching to see how the team regroups and prepares for the challenges ahead. With Illechukwu at the helm, Rangers will be looking to bounce back stronger and make a more significant impact in the league next season.
