Obadiah Noel Returns to APR for BAL 2025 with Unfinished Business

Obadiah Noel Returns to APR with "Unfinished Business" Ahead of BAL 2025

In a move that’s set to electrify the basketball scene, American point guard Obadiah Noel has announced his return to APR, citing "unfinished business" as his motivation for rejoining the team ahead of the highly anticipated Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2025. The 25-year-old star’s decision has sent shockwaves of excitement among fans, who still vividly remember his stellar performances in the 2024 edition of the tournament.

Noel’s journey with APR was cut short last year when an injury forced him to sit out, and the team was subsequently knocked out of the competition. However, his heroics on the court, including a memorable buzzer-beater against Tunisian giants US Monastir, have not been forgotten. The dynamic guard, nicknamed "Mutabazi," brings a wealth of experience from the NBA G League, where he played for teams like the Indiana Mad Ants and the Westchester Knicks.

"I’m here for Season 5 of BAL. The reason I’m here is because I feel like I have unfinished business from last year. So I’s looking forward to it," Noel said in a recent interview, his determination and enthusiasm palpable. Joining him at APR are Rwandan forwards Dylan Schommer and Sano Rutatika, as well as American small forward Dane Miller Jr., bolstering the team’s roster ahead of the upcoming tournament.

Schommer, a Swiss-based Rwandan star, is set to make his BAL debut and is eager to get started. "I am really excited to play and I want to see everybody come out and support," he said, echoing the sentiment of fans who are eagerly awaiting the competition. APR has been placed in the Nile Conference, which tips off on May 17 and runs until May 25 in Kigali, where they will face off against Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli, South Africa’s Made by Basketball, and Kenya’s Nairobi City Thunder.

As the BAL 2025 season heats up, with 12 teams competing in three conferences, the return of Obadiah Noel to APR is a significant development that’s sure to generate buzz among basketball enthusiasts across the continent. With his "unfinished business" driving him forward, Noel is poised to make a lasting impact on the court, and fans won’t want to miss the action. As the teams from the Nile Conference arrive in Kigali this week to compete at the BK Arena, one thing is certain – the stage is set for an unforgettable tournament.
