NIN enrolment hits over 120m as NIMC gives reasons for price review

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) said it has achieved 120,000,040 million National Identity Number (NIN) enrolments for citizens and legal residents.

This comes as the commission explained why it recently reviewed its service price framework.

The Director General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, spoke at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to her, NIMC has continued to expand its infrastructure capacity to serve Nigerians better in the last 24 months.

Abisoye-Coker said the commission has reduced corruption in the agency by 40 percent.

On its recent price review, she noted that charges for modifications of data were increased while verifications were decreased.

“There were some prices that were too much, so what we did was to remove them.

“There were all sorts of prices over there. People were extorting citizens with outrageous prices.

“NIN enrolment is free. But if you want to modify your data for any reason, you have to pay more.

“Some prices were reviewed downwards and others upwards.

“In terms of verification, the prices were reviewed downwards but upwards in terms of modifications,” she said.

Recall that on 1st May, 2025, NIMC announced a review of its service prices.

Accordingly, the commission hiked date of birthday corrections fee to N28,574 from N16,340.

Similarly, NIMC increased its NIN retrieval service on Unstructured Supplementary Service Data to N50 from N20.
