The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party has scheduled its chairmanship primaries for Friday, ahead of the upcoming July 12 local government elections.
State Chairman of the party, Pastor Dayo Ekong, confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.

Ekong stated that the primaries will be conducted across all council areas in the state, using an indirect system through selected delegates to elect the party’s candidates.

“Our councillorship primaries will hold today (Thursday) across all the wards, while the chairmanship primaries will be held on Friday in all the local government areas.

“We are committed to free, fair and transparent primary elections.

“We are confident of a good outing in the election,” the chairman said.

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, is set to conduct elections across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.
