Why Dagrin died prematurely – Kenny Saint Brown

Gospel singer, Kenny Saint Brown, aka KSB, has claimed that late Nigerian rapper, Olayitan Oladapo, popularly known as Dagrin, died prematurely because he didn’t ask for long life in his verse on her 2010 prayer-themed song, Turn Me Around.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Hoha podcast, the former Kennis Music artiste claimed that the ‘Pon Pon Pon’ crooner’s verse in the song was filled with requests for fame and material success, but he never mentioned long life.

According to KSB: “When he [Dagrin] died, I cried, because the prayer requests on that [‘Turn Me Around’] song God did it for him. And I asked God what happened, He said go and listen to his Prayer Request, there is no long life there. He just said make I blow, ‘Mo fe ma gun Bentley,’ let everybody know me worldwide, and God granted everything.”

Media Talk Africa recalls that Dagrin died on April 22, 2010, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), after he was involved in a car crash around Mushin, Lagos.

He reportedly ran into a stationary truck around 3 a.m. and was left unconscious before being rescued by police officers. He remained in critical condition before he passed on days later.

He is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of indigenous rap music in Nigeria. His music became more popular shortly after his death.
