The Ogun II Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced a substantial increase in revenue generation, collecting a total of ₦15.2 billion in the first quarter of 2025. This represents a 40% increase compared to the ₦9.2 billion recorded during the same period in 2024. During a press conference held at the command’s headquarters in Abeokuta, Alade disclosed that the revenue was generated through strategic efforts and unified operations. He expressed delight at the achievement, stating that it demonstrates the command’s commitment to the economic growth and development of the nation. A breakdown of the generated revenue reveals that ₦8.33 billion was collected on excise, ₦7.16 billion on free trade zones, and ₦1.49 billion on bonded terminals, totaling ₦15.2 billion. The revenue collection was consistent throughout the first four months of the year, with ₦4 billion collected in January, ₦3.49 billion in February, ₦3.44 billion in March, and ₦4.26 billion in April.
Comptroller Alade reaffirmed the command’s commitment to surpassing its performance in the coming months, emphasizing the importance of continuous dialogue with stakeholders, the local business community, and synergy with sister agencies. This significant revenue boost is a testament to the Nigeria Customs Service’s dedication to contributing to the nation’s economic growth and development. As the command looks to the future, its focus on professionalism, diligence, and dedication is likely to yield continued success and growth.
