Industrialization Efforts Gain Momentum in Volta Region
In a significant move to boost economic growth and development, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has announced that conscious efforts are being made to promote strategic industrial investment in the region. This initiative is expected to bring about much-needed transformation and create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth. At the heart of this plan is the establishment of an industrial park on 2,700 acres of land acquired and registered at Adaklu, which will aid the government’s 24-hour economy policy.
During an inspection of the land at Adaklu-Waya, Minister Gunu assured the people of the Volta region that the industrial park, once completed, would not only promote the 24-hour economy policy but also create a plethora of job opportunities. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between stakeholders and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to bring about the desired development. The Minister commended the chiefs of Adaklu for making land available for the project and reiterated his commitment to working closely with traditional authorities to facilitate rapid development in the region.
The industrial park is set to include cassava and rice processing factories, among others, which will make farming more attractive and profitable for farmers. The Adaklu District Chief Executive, Mr. Jerry Ameko, urged the youth to consider taking up farming as a business to improve their lives, highlighting that agriculture has proven to be a viable business that can create wealth and improve living conditions. Mr. Ameko also called on the youth to distance themselves from social vices and channel their energies into productive activities, emphasizing the importance of making informed choices and remaining focused to become responsible adults.
Furthermore, the Assembly has provided a conducive environment for local and international investors to explore numerous investment opportunities in the District, particularly in agriculture and industrialization. This move is expected to benefit both the people and the investors mutually. Mr. Ameko stressed the need for landowners in the area to register their lands and work closely with the Assembly to avoid encroachment, which can lead to litigation and hinder growth. He emphasized the importance of unity and acceptance of divergent views to maintain peace in the region.
As the Volta region prepares to tackle its developmental challenges, the government’s resolve to implement a long-term solution through practical industrialization is a step in the right direction. With the establishment of the industrial park and the promotion of agriculture as a viable business, the future looks bright for the region. The onus now lies with the stakeholders, including the youth, to seize the available opportunities and work towards creating a prosperous and peaceful region. As the region embarks on this journey of transformation, it is clear that the collective efforts of the government, traditional authorities, and the people will be crucial in achieving the desired development and bringing about a brighter future for the Volta region.
