In a significant move to enhance service delivery, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has partnered with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) to launch an Application Programming Interface (API) integration platform. This initiative aims to provide prompt and efficient services to customers, marking a major step forward in the Commission’s commitment to technological advancement.
According to the Registrar-General of the CAC, Hussaini Magaji, the integration of NIBSS into the CAC portal is a response to customers’ demands for faster services. “We are giving our customers opportunities to have a solution via technology where they can achieve or consume the CAC services through our super-agent, now NIBSS,” Magaji stated. He emphasized that the Commission is taking its services to the doorstep of its customers through recognized super-agents, highlighting the importance of accessibility and convenience.
The initiative allows selected private sector organizations, referred to as “super agents,” to access and retrieve data from the CAC database for a fee. These super agents can then modify the data into specific information requested by their clients, outside the framework of standardized services provided by the Commission. This move is expected to enhance the ease of doing business and benefit the country as a whole.
Magaji noted that the API integration is designed with sensitivity to the requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, ensuring the protection of personally identifiable information. The Commission has commended pioneer super agents, including NIBSS, Moniepoint, Opay, and Oasis Management Company Limited, for their support in making the integration possible.
The Executive Director of Business Development at NIBSS, Ngover Ihembe-Nwankwo, expressed the organization’s commitment to enhancing trust, transparency, and ease of doing business through secure and efficient data verification services. She hailed the partnership as a testament to the potential of institutional collaboration in building solutions that serve the Nigerian people. The partnership marks the beginning of a new era in service delivery, where access, innovation, and security are fully integrated to empower citizens and businesses.
With over 30 years of operation, NIBSS remains focused on reducing costs within the financial services ecosystem and promoting interoperability and interconnectivity. The organization has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote digital transformation and service efficiency in Nigeria. As the CAC and NIBSS continue to work together, customers can expect more efficient and accessible services, marking a significant step forward in the country’s digital landscape.
