2027: North West will judge Tinubu, APC governors — Baba-Ahmed

A former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said that residents of the North West will hold political leaders accountable in the 2027 general elections based on their experiences of violence, poverty and insecurity.

Baba-Ahmed, who recently resigned from the Tinubu administration, made the statement while reacting to the endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the North West.

The endorsement took place over the weekend in Kaduna, where Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, moved a motion in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid. The motion was seconded by Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, with APC governors in the region also receiving automatic tickets for a second term.

APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who announced the endorsements, said the President remained committed to the development of the region and the country at large.

However, Baba-Ahmed, in a post on X, criticised the move, accusing the political class of ignoring the people.

“APC governors in the North West recently endorsed PBAT, endorsed themselves and every elected office holder and defector from the region.

“They forgot the people who will judge all politicians against their exposure to violence, death and poverty. It’s almost as if they think people don’t matter,” he wrote.
