2027: More states joining Tinubu, LP Senator begging to defect to APC – Akpabio

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday hinted at the likelihood of more states controlled by opposition parties endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress, APC, national summit on Thursday, Akpabio also revealed that a senator elected on the platform of the Labour Party is about to join the ruling party.

According to him, the lawmaker expressed his intention to defect to the APC shortly before the summit.

He said, “The number of states that are coming to join you (Tinubu) is increasing. As I was leaving, one senator was dragging my dress today.

“He said, ‘Please take me there.’ I said, ‘You can’t come now,’ and he is an LP senator. I don’t want to mention his name, he is in my car outside.”

Media Talk Africa reports that a recent wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC has fueled speculations that President Tinubu’s government may be turning the country into a one-party state.

The government and the APC have, however, denied the allegations.
