Katsina State Governor Vows to Combat Banditry and Improve Security and Education

Katsina gov unveils fresh moves to crush banditry after another deadly attack

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating banditry and safeguarding lives and property across the state. This pledge comes after a recent attack by armed bandits in Gobirawa village, Dutsinma Local Government Area, which resulted in the loss of several lives and sparked widespread outrage.

During a condolence visit to the affected community, Governor Radda expressed his deepest sympathies and assured residents that his administration is implementing new strategies to bolster local security networks. He revealed that upon receiving intelligence about a planned attack, security personnel were promptly deployed to the village. However, the attackers struck shortly after the operatives left, a turn of events that the governor deeply regretted.

In response to the tragedy, Governor Radda instructed the Dutsinma Local Government Chairman to select five community representatives for a strategic meeting aimed at enhancing grassroots security engagement. The governor emphasized the importance of community cooperation in identifying informants who may be collaborating with bandit groups, stating, “Community cooperation is critical to defeating this threat.” He was accompanied by top local officials, including Mohammad Khamis, the lawmaker representing Dutsinma in the State Assembly, and Kabir Shema, the Dutsinma Council Chairman.

In a separate development, Governor Radda visited Charanci Local Government Area to inspect the progress of a new “Smart School” project in Radda town. This initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to expand access to quality education, particularly in underserved areas. The Radda-led government is constructing three model secondary schools, one in each senatorial district, with the goal of equipping students with modern learning tools. During the inspection, the governor urged contractors to improve the pace and quality of work, cautioning against delays that could compromise the project’s objectives.

As Governor Radda continues to prioritize the security and education of his constituents, his administration remains committed to creating a safer and more prosperous environment for the people of Katsina State. By strengthening security networks and investing in education, the government aims to address the root causes of banditry and provide opportunities for economic growth and development. With the governor’s determination and the support of the community, Katsina State is poised to overcome its current challenges and build a brighter future for its citizens.
