In a significant development, the Adamawa State Government has made notable strides in boosting its financial standing, with its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) witnessing a substantial increase. From a modest N7 billion in 2019, the state’s IGR has risen to an impressive N17 billion in 2023. This remarkable growth was disclosed by Chiwaren Abubakar, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri on Revenue Services, during a live radio program on Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation.
Abubakar attributed this success to the government’s unwavering commitment to development, coupled with its efforts to block revenue leakages and invest in infrastructure. As a result, the state has been able to provide essential amenities, including roads and welfare packages, to its citizens. The economist also highlighted the importance of prudent resource management in achieving these milestones.
The radio program, sponsored by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, provided a platform for Abubakar to share the state’s financial progress with the public. Following the broadcast, Abubakar was given a tour of the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation’s transmission station and broadcasting house by the General Manager, Alhaji Abdulnasir Ali. The visit showcased the recent digitalization of the radio station, made possible by the state government’s provision of new equipment, which now enables the station to cover the entire state.
This development is a testament to the Adamawa State Government’s dedication to improving its financial health and providing better services to its citizens. As the state awaits the 2024 report, expectations are high that the IGR will continue to rise, further solidifying the government’s position and enabling it to undertake more development projects. With its focus on responsible governance and infrastructure development, Adamawa State is poised for continued growth and prosperity.
