2025 budget: N393bn worth of streetlights should make Nigeria 'light of the world' - Kalu Aja

A financial analyst, Kalu Aja, has said that with Nigeria’s 2025 budget for streetlights amounting to N393.29 billion, the country is supposed to be the ‘Light of the World.’

He made this known in his comment on X on Monday, reacting to BudgIT’s revelation of project insertions by the National Assembly in the 2025 budget.

He noted lamented the amount budgeted per streetlight, which stood at N266 million.

He wrote, “With the amount of “streetlights” in this 2025 budget, Nigeria is supposed to be the light of the world. 1,477 streetlights for N393.29 billion, that’s N266 million per light. Are we installing the sun?”

Recall that last week Monday, BudgIT revealed that the National Assembly inserted 11,122 projects worth N6.93 trillion into the 2025 budget of N54.99 trillion.

Media Talk Africa reports successive yearly budget in Nigeria had contained several project insertions by the National Assembly that had little or no impact on the country’s infrastructural gap.
