The event has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an outpouring of concern from residents who are urging for calm and justice.

According to reports, the mob attack was sparked by the death of a civilian who had been taken into police custody for allegedly riding a motorcycle while drunk. The incident escalated, leading to the demise of the DPO, a loss that has been widely condemned by the community. As of now, 27 suspects are in police custody, and an investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

The Concerned Rano Citizens, a group representing the interests of the local residents, has issued a statement expressing deep condolences to the family of the late DPO, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kano State Police Command. The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Bello Abubakar Maude Rano, described the incident as “tragic and unrepresentative of the peace-loving people of Rano,” emphasizing the community’s values of tolerance, lawfulness, and mutual respect.

The group has called upon security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice, while also appealing to the youth and the general public to remain calm and uphold the values of peace and unity that Rano is known for. The deployment of a new DPO to the area highlights the efforts being made to restore stability and normalcy.

As the community grapples with the aftermath of this incident, there is a palpable sense of unease. However, the people of Rano are known for their resilience and commitment to peace. It is this spirit that will be crucial in healing the wounds of this tragedy and moving forward. The international community watches as Nigeria navigates this challenging situation, with hopes that justice will be served and peace will be restored in Rano.
