As the month of May comes to a close, the Abia State Command of the Nigerian Police Force is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of its citizens. Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, has issued a directive to all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders to be on high alert, particularly in protecting their bases and government infrastructure, ahead of May 30, 2025. This move comes amidst the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, which has raised concerns about potential disruptions to peace and order in the region.
CP Isa convened a security briefing with his top officers, where he emphasized the importance of strict compliance with the Operation Order. He directed his officers to ensure that their subordinates are properly supervised, and that all units, especially those at strategic points, remain alert and proactive. The Commissioner also ordered that response teams be on standby, ready to respond swiftly to any emergencies that may arise.
In a statement made available to journalists, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, provided further details on the measures being taken to ensure the safety of citizens. According to her, the Commissioner of Police has also ordered the continuation of Operation “Show of Force” in collaboration with other security agencies across Abia State. This operation is designed to demonstrate the police force’s presence and readiness to respond to any security threats.
The Commissioner of Police has assured the people of Abia State that they can expect a peaceful and secure month-end, and has urged the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious. He encouraged citizens to support the police by promptly reporting any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or contacting the Command’s emergency numbers. By taking these proactive measures, the Abia State Police Command is demonstrating its commitment to maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens. With the sit-at-home order and potential security threats looming, the police force is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to protect the people of Abia State.
