APC Group Calls for Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Expulsion Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Benue: APC group demands Gov Alia’s expulsion over alleged anti-party activities

Breaking News: APC League Calls for Expulsion of Benue State Governor Over Alleged Betrayal

In a shocking move, the All Progressives Congress (APC) League, a faction within the ruling party, has demanded the immediate expulsion of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State. The group accuses the governor of betraying party principles and engaging in anti-party activities, which have reportedly undermined the party’s unity and cohesion.

According to a statement signed by the APC League’s national president, John Ogiri, Governor Alia’s actions have been a cause for concern for over a year. The governor’s absence from the recent APC National Summit at the State House, where President Bola Tinubu was endorsed for the 2027 presidential election, was cited as evidence of his disconnection from the party’s national leadership. The summit saw 21 other APC governors in attendance, all of whom endorsed President Tinubu’s candidacy.

The APC League also alleged that Governor Alia has been secretly collaborating with Senator Gabriel Suswam and other actors opposed to APC interests in Benue, further deepening divisions within the party. The group claimed that the governor’s allies are visibly embedded in the operations of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while the APC structure in Benue is being deliberately crippled.

"In politics, appearances speak volumes," the statement read. "Governor Alia chose absence over allegiance, distance over dedication. Beyond the symbolic, the governor has sidelined the APC structure in Benue State — marginalizing the State Executive Committee, refusing to convene meetings, and excluding elected representatives."

The APC League stressed that Governor Alia’s non-participation at the National Summit cannot be excused, despite a belated attempt by his Chief Press Secretary to explain it away. The group noted that the governor’s refusal to submit to party discipline and unity efforts is glaring and must no longer be tolerated.

The APC League urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to take swift action, including expulsion, against Governor Alia for gross misconduct and anti-party activities. The group emphasized that the party’s integrity must be defended at all costs, and that Governor Alia’s constant threat of leaving the party poses a serious danger to the unity and credibility of the APC.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the NWC will respond to the APC League’s demands. One thing is certain, however: the future of Governor Alia’s membership in the APC hangs in the balance, and the party’s unity and credibility are at stake.
