PDP Leaders in Delta State Warn Members Against Defecting to APC

Delta State PDP Leaders Warn Members Against Defection to APC

In a bold move to consolidate their ranks, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ovwian Ward 7, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, have issued a stern warning to members against defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This warning was handed down at a meeting held at the Ovwian Community’s town hall, where party leaders urged members to remain loyal and work towards reclaiming the party’s mandate from the local governments to the presidency.

According to Odjeku Matthew Uparan, a former PDP Ward 7 leader, the party is facing deception from within. "Those we brought into the party are the ones deceiving us," he stated, assuring members that the leaders will not betray the trust and confidence placed in them. Uparan emphasized the importance of loyalty, saying, "There’s no other party apart from the PDP in Ovwian Ward 7. Nobody should deceive you to join APC. Stay in PDP and work for the party."

Another party chieftain, Lawson.A. Oghoifo, shared a similar sentiment, claiming that those who defected to the APC had been problematic within the PDP before their departure. He viewed their defection as a positive development, stating that the PDP has "attained freedom" since their departure, which is a reason to celebrate. Oghoifo also expressed confidence in the party’s leadership, saying, "We’re not running anywhere because we’re not thieves. Na who thief nai dey run. We nor thief. So, we cannot leave PDP."

The PDP leaders’ warning comes at a critical time for the party, as it seeks to consolidate its support base and prepare for future elections. By urging members to remain loyal and focused, the party aims to reclaim its mandate and make significant gains in the political landscape of Delta State. As the PDP works to strengthen its position, it will be interesting to see how the APC responds to these developments and how the political dynamics in the region unfold. One thing is clear, however: the PDP is committed to its cause and will stop at nothing to achieve its goals.
