Confluence University of Science and Technology Accredited for Two New Academic Programmes by National University Commission

NUC approves two new programmes for Kogi varsity

The Confluence University of Science and Technology, located in Osara, Kogi State, Nigeria, has achieved a significant milestone with the accreditation of two new academic programs by the National University Commission, NUC. The accredited programs, Applied Geophysics and Geology, both under the Geophysics Department, have been given the green light for a five-year period. This development underscores the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality education that meets the standards set by the NUC.

According to Pharm. Muhammed Asuku, the Director of Academic Planning at the university, the approval is a direct result of the assessment exercise conducted by the NUC in October and November 2025. This exercise aimed to evaluate the quality of the programs offered by the university. Asuku referenced a letter from Engr. Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation at the NUC, which highlighted the Commission’s role in setting and maintaining standards for academic programs across Nigerian universities.

The news of the accreditation has been met with enthusiasm within the academic community of the Confluence University of Science and Technology. Asuku expressed the institution’s joy and happiness, attributing the success to the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. A.A. Salawu. “We must congratulate the management and staff of the university for this remarkable achievement within a short period of time,” Asuku stated, reflecting the sense of pride and accomplishment felt by the university community.

This accreditation is not the first achievement for the Confluence University of Science and Technology. In 2023, the National University Commission approved 11 programs for the institution, marking a significant step in its growth and development. The addition of Applied Geophysics and Geology to the list of accredited programs further solidifies the university’s position in providing a diverse range of academic opportunities that cater to various interests and career paths.

The accreditation of these programs serves as a testament to the university’s dedication to academic excellence and its commitment to offering programs that are not only relevant but also meet the high standards set by the NUC. As the Confluence University of Science and Technology continues to expand its academic offerings, it is poised to play a more significant role in shaping the educational landscape in Nigeria and beyond. With its focus on science and technology, the university is well-positioned to contribute to the development of skilled professionals who can address the complex challenges of the 21st century.
