In a recent development, the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that it has extended the service of two corps members from the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream one. This decision was confirmed by the state NYSC Coordinator, Ibrahim Sa’idu, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Katsina. According to Sa’idu, the extension of service was due to various degrees of offenses that contravened the NYSC bye-law.
On a more positive note, two other corps members, Niss Adeifan-Eniebukun and Joshua Amoswere-Agwale, were recognized for their outstanding performance. They received state recognition for executing community-oriented projects in their host communities, showcasing the impact that corps members can have when they dedicate themselves to making a difference.
During the low-key passing-out ceremony on Tuesday, 558 corps members received their Certificate of National Service, marking the end of their one-year mandatory service. As they embark on the next stage of their journey, Mr. Sa’idu urged them to apply the lessons they learned during their in-camp training on the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SEAD) program. He emphasized the importance of leveraging these skills to establish themselves gainfully, rather than waiting idly for government jobs that may not be available.
In his advice, Mr. Sa’idu encouraged the corps members to take immediate action, using the knowledge and skills they acquired during the post-camp SEAD training. He cautioned them against procrastination, emphasizing the need to start building their futures now. As these young individuals move forward, they carry with them the experience and skills gained during their time in the NYSC, ready to make a meaningful contribution to their communities and the world at large.
