Pastor Ibiyeomie Tells Congregation to Give Offerings Bigger Than Tithes to Achieve Prosperity

Your offerings should be bigger than your tithes - Pastor Ibiyeomie

In a recent sermon, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries, urged his congregation to give generously, emphasizing that their offerings should exceed their tithes. According to Pastor Ibiyeomie, tithing, which amounts to 10 percent of one’s income, is a crucial step towards achieving prosperity. He encouraged his followers to adopt a lifestyle of giving, saying, “Tithe is the foundation of your covenant to prosperity. Don’t wait until month end before you pay your tithe. Anytime you get money, pay 10% back to God as a lifestyle.”

The pastor took it a step further by recommending that offerings should be at least 20 percent of one’s income, surpassing the amount given as tithes. He shared his personal experience, stating that his financial well-being is a direct result of this practice. “In a month, your offering should be bigger than your tithe. My offering, for instance, I don’t give less than 20 percent, that’s why I’m not poor. Increase your offering more than your tithe, and you’ll never be broke,” he said.

However, not everyone is in agreement with Pastor Ibiyeomie’s suggestion. Critics argue that this approach could place a significant financial burden on believers, particularly during times of economic hardship. One critic, Ikechukwu Seed Mkpulu, expressed his concerns on social media, saying, “Offering 20% + Tithe 10% = Total 30%. 30% of your hard-earned money must go to Pastor Ibiyeomie’s bank account if you really want to go to heaven. Nigerian pastors are worse than Nigerian politicians.”

The debate surrounding Pastor Ibiyeomie’s sermon highlights the complex relationship between faith and finances. While some believe that generous giving is essential to their spiritual growth and prosperity, others see it as a potential form of exploitation. As the conversation continues, it remains to be seen how Pastor Ibiyeomie’s followers will respond to his advice and whether it will have a significant impact on their financial decisions.
