Sallah: Be truthful, end profligacy – PDP tells Nigerian Govt

Kebbi PDP demands release of party spokesperson, alleges biased court ruling

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has tasked the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government to end its profligacy, exploitation, deceit and manipulations that have brought untold hardship to Nigerians.

PDP spoke in a statement by National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Friday.

The party congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to use the occasion to reinforce their faith in the unfailing love, kindness and provisions of the Almighty Allah despite the prevailing economic, security and social challenges confronting the nation.

However, the party expressed concerns over what it described as “the pervading sense of gloom in the country, the worsening insecurity where the nation has become a large killing field with citizens left at the mercies of terrorists, bandits and marauders and the unbearable economic hardship and agonizing life-discounting experiences all resulting from the reckless mismanagement of national resources by the insensitive APC administration”.

The opposition party charged the APC administration to revamp the productive sector and cause a healing in the nation by ending corruption and reviewing all anti-people policies, and among other things, reduce the cost of fuel, electricity tariff and charges on critical services.

PDP said that the APC administration must immediately end the mortgaging of the nation through reckless borrowing that cannot be tied to any corresponding life-enhancing project or programme in the country.

The opposition party challenged the Federal Government to recover the over N30 trillion allegedly stolen by known APC leaders through various fraudulent oil deals and other funds frittered from government agencies under the APC administration.

According to the PDP, such stolen funds must be recovered and channeled towards the provision of critical infrastructure, revamping the productive sector and enhancing the operations of our security agencies.

“Our party therefore urges President Tinubu to use the remaining two years of his administration to redeem his image as a leader by being more sensitive towards the wellbeing of Nigerians in line with the demand for selflessness and submission to the Will and Command of the Almighty Allah which the Eid-el-Kabir teaches.

“The PDP charges Nigerians not to give up hope but remain patriotic, continue to share with one another at this trying time and pray constantly for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the nation.

“The PDP felicitates with Nigerians and wishes the nation a happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” the statement said.
