Aviation Minister Orders Probe into Air Peace, Senator Oshiomhole Clash

A dramatic incident at Lagos Airport has sparked a heated exchange between Air Peace, one of Nigeria’s leading airlines, and Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a prominent politician from Edo North. The Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has stepped in to investigate the matter, calling for calm and restraint from both parties.

The controversy began on Wednesday morning at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1, Zulu Hall, when Air Peace accused Senator Oshiomhole of violence and disrupting a flight. However, the senator vehemently denied these allegations, claiming that the airline had prevented him and other passengers from boarding despite completing online check-in. Oshiomhole further accused Air Peace of extortion and other unwholesome practices, which the airline has since denied.

In a statement released on his social media account on Friday, Minister Keyamo revealed that he had been in direct contact with both parties since the incident occurred. "I am further directing the relevant aviation agencies to thoroughly look into the issue, collect all available evidence, and revert to my office so we can deal with the issue in such a way as to guide future conduct in similar situations," he said.

As the investigation unfolds, Keyamo has urged both sides to refrain from public accusations and counter-accusations, emphasizing the need for restraint in their public utterances. This move is seen as an effort to prevent further escalation and ensure a fair and impartial probe.

The clash between Air Peace and Senator Oshiomhole has raised concerns about the state of Nigeria’s aviation industry and the need for effective regulation. As the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Keyamo’s intervention is crucial in resolving the matter and restoring confidence in the industry.

With the investigation now underway, all eyes are on the aviation authorities to uncover the truth behind the incident and take necessary actions to prevent similar occurrences in the future. As the story continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the Nigerian government is committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of its aviation sector, and will not tolerate any behavior that compromises these values.
