2027: Anybody eying Otti’s seat taking big risk – Union leader warns Abia opposition

Abia: Disclose cost of projects, IGR - PDP challenges Alex Otti

The President of Cooperative Motor Union, Abia State, Mr. Chukwuma Azode has warned that any politician who decides to contest the governorship election against Governor Alex Otti in 2027 would be taking a “very big risk”.

He spoke on Thursday during a “Two-Million Man March” organised by various transport unions in Abia State in solidarity with road infrastructural development by Otti’s administration.

According to the motor union leader, with the achievements of Governor Otti, no sensible politician in Abia should contest governorship election against him.

While claiming that the seat of power is already occupied by Otti from now till 2031, Azode said politicians who are interested in contesting the 2027 governorship election should jettison such ambition.

“From what we are seeing, I don’t think any sensible person should involve himself in anything concerning elections, because from what we are seeing, His Excellency is supposed to enjoy his eight years.

“So, for now, any opposition that is coming out is taking a big risk because we Abians are in support of His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti for now, and no other person. And all the motor union in Abia State are also endorsing His Excellency for 2027. That’s part of our gathering here today,” Azode said.

He added that people from different political backgrounds participated in the million man march.

Also speaking, Chairman of Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, ASTOPU, Victor Azubuike, said Aba transporters are the biggest beneficiaries of Otti’s road projects across the state.
