In a bold move to combat the growing threat of thuggery in Kano State, Nigeria, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has launched an aggressive operation to restore peace and security across the region. The initiative follows a high-level security summit held on June 14, 2025, where top police commanders and officials strategized to tackle the menace, locally known as Daba.

During the meeting, CP Bakori emphasized the importance of taking a firm stance against thuggery, declaring that it would no longer be tolerated in any part of the state. He urged his commanders to intensify operations and ensure that such threats are addressed promptly, stating, “Thuggery will no longer be tolerated.” The police boss assured the people of Kano that they would continue to enjoy uninterrupted peace and security, allowing them to live without fear.

To achieve this goal, the Police Command has announced a three-pronged strategy to combat criminal elements. The plan includes intelligence-led raids on known hideouts, collaboration with community leaders to develop security solutions, and coordination with other security agencies to ensure a united response. By working together, the police aim to create a safer environment for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to these measures, CP Bakori appealed to citizens to support the security agencies by remaining vigilant and sharing timely information. He encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and security. To facilitate this, the police have provided emergency numbers, including 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926, for residents to reach out to the authorities.

The launch of this operation marks a significant step towards addressing the issue of thuggery in Kano State. With the police committing to a more proactive and collaborative approach, residents can look forward to a safer and more secure environment. As the police work to implement their new strategy, the people of Kano can rest assured that their safety and well-being are a top priority.
