Iyanya reacts to accusation of picking side in Wizkid, Davido's beef

Afrobeats singer Iyanya has revealed that he was selected for the first season of Nigerian Idols after participating in the audition in Calabar, Cross River State.

He explained that he and Omawunmi, who went on to become the first runner-up on the maiden edition in 2007, were the only two contestants selected from the Calabar audition.

The singer, however, explained that he couldn’t participate in the finals of the reality show as it considered with his final year exams in the university.

He said a year later, he won the first edition of Project Fame West Africa.

He stated this in a recent interview with Hip TV while relishing being co-judge of the the ongoing season of the Nigerian Idols with Omawunmi.

Iyanya said, “Omawumi and I were the only ones picked at the Calabar Nigerian Idol auditions. I couldn’t make it. I had my final year exam. A year later, I won Project Fame. Today, we’re both judges on Nigerian Idol.”
