Tinubu Reassures Akwa Ibom Governor of Support and Protection After Joining APC

We'll build Ibom Deep Seaport - Tinubu assures Gov Eno

In a significant show of support, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given his word to Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno that he will not abandon him or allow him to be humiliated. This assurance was given during a grand reception for Governor Eno’s entry into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Godswill International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu emphasized his commitment to building bridges and mending fences, rather than creating divisions. He praised Governor Eno’s decision to join the APC, stating that it is a choice he will never regret. The president’s message was clear: Governor Eno is now part of a family that will stand by him and work together towards success.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio also welcomed Governor Eno to the APC, acknowledging his bold move and the potential benefits it could bring to Akwa Ibom State. Governor Eno had requested support for the Ibom Deep Seaport project, which Akpabio assured would be granted, along with other benefits. The Senate President expressed hope that the remaining two states in the South-South region would soon join the APC, paving the way for greater unity and cooperation in addressing regional challenges.

Governor Eno, who made the decision to join the APC on June 6, reiterated his commitment to supporting President Tinubu’s reforms and bringing economic growth to his state. He appealed to the federal government to ensure that his move to the APC would lead to the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, which has been a long-standing goal for the state. With a depth of 19.1 meters, the seaport has the potential to drive significant economic growth and development in the region.

APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje welcomed Governor Eno to the party, describing him as a wise leader who understands the importance of national unity. With four APC governors now in the South-South zone, Ganduje expressed optimism that the remaining two states would soon follow, facilitating greater cooperation and progress in the region. As Governor Eno and the APC look to the future, their focus will be on delivering on their promises and driving growth and development in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
