I gave Nigerian artists confidence to smoke cannabis on screen – Terry G

Singer Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has claimed that he made a rare cultural impact on the Nigerian music industry.

He asserted that his “sacrifice” gave Nigerian artistes the confidence to smoke cannabis onscreen.

The Free Madness hitmaker maintained that before he rose to stardom, Nigerian artistes lacked the boldness to smoke cannabis publicly on screen.

The Akpako Master made the assertion on social media on Sunday.

On his X handle, he wrote, “No hard feelings,it’s all love, but no forget say if no be my sacrifice, none of your fav go get liver to smoke Igbo for screen.”

His claim was met with scepticism, as many pointed out that Nigerian music pioneers such as Afrobeat maestro Fela Anikulapo-Kuti smoked onscreen long before Terry G was born.
