Tinubu wants vibrant opposition, put your houses in order – Akpabio tells PDP, LP

The Senate President, Godswill Akpbio, on Wednesday declared that President Bola Tinubu is interested in a vibrant opposition in Nigeria.

Akpabio said Tinubu is saddened by the level of disarray and cracks within the opposition parties in Nigeria because he’s a democrat.

He spoke during the commissioning of the newly constructed Interchange Bridge of Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) over Outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed Expressway).

The project was commissioned to mark Tinubu’s second year in office and the President was represented at the event by Akpabio.

Earlier, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike had berated the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for visiting the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the crisis surrounding the party’s National Secretary position.

Reacting, Akpabio counselled the PDP leadership to quickly get the party in order because, according to him, Tinubu wants a vibrant opposition.

He also lamented the leadership crisis in the Labour Party, LP, wondering how the party would lead Nigeria when it can resolve its internal issues.

Akpabio said, “You people got yourself into this confusion, try and get yourself out of it very quickly. Tinubu is very interested in seeing a vibrant opposition. It saddens him when he sees the way the opposition in Nigeria is in disarray, as a true democrat he will like to see a very vibrant opposition in the country.

“Before I came here to represent him, I received and read a letter from the Labour Party, so it’s not only the PDP that is in disarray, even the Labour Party is cracked and people who are strong members of the LP are trying to run Nigeria when they can’t put a small political party like that in other.

“So I want to join the President to see a vibrant opposition. Senator Imasuen just decamped this afternoon from the Labour Party, moved from the left hand side to the right hand side, so that took my time.

“I’m not tired, I’m happy to receive them because our doors are open in the APC. So congratulations to Imasuen who has decided to leave the fractured LP to join the APC.”
