LG polls: Lagos Deputy Governor urges massive support for APC candidates

Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has called on residents of the Lagos East Senatorial District to show strong support for candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming local government elections.

Hamzat made this call during the APC’s mega campaign rally held on Saturday at Government College, Owutu in Ikorodu.

Addressing the crowd, the deputy governor emphasized the progress recorded under the APC-led administration, describing it as a demonstration of effective governance and the benefits of democracy delivered to the people.

“Let us come out and support the party by voting for all APC candidates. Do not be swayed by negative reports. Lagos State is performing excellently; our local government chairmen and councillors are working hard for your benefit.

“You have benefited from democracy through better infrastructure, improved education, and enhanced healthcare systems.

“So, I urge you to come out en masse and support them on July 12. I assure you that APC is the right choice. Please come out and vote,” Mr Hamzat pleaded.

He also dismissed unfavourable reports about the state’s performance, maintaining that local government officials under the party have delivered quality service to constituents.

Also speaking at the rally, Akanni Seriki, a member of the Governance Advisory Council, GAC, encouraged elected party members to remain committed to service delivery. He urged all party members to work together to achieve electoral success.

“Let us unite as one and support all the party’s candidates,” Mr Seriki said.

In his remarks, former deputy governor and GAC member, Abiodun Ogunleye, advised eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and vote during the July 12 elections. He also charged party supporters to mobilise and back APC candidates at the grassroots level.

“Let us mobilise votes for the APC,” Mr Ogunleye stated.

The event featured the official presentation of chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates representing the APC across the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The rally was attended by GAC members, national and state legislators, members of the state executive council, and APC leaders across various levels.

Representatives of market associations, trade unions, ethnic groups, and party supporters were also present.
