2027: We must work toward credible elections – Nwankwo

The Convener of the Civil Society Situation Room, Clement Nwankwo, has urged stakeholders and all meaning Nigerians to work beyond hope toward credible elections in 2027.

Nwankwo, while stressing the need for deliberate action to ensure credible elections in 2027, warned that hope without effort is useless.

The Convener stated this on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“If I say I’m hopeful but do nothing, then nothing happens. If I say I’ve lost hope, then we do nothing. I have seen dictatorship and the brutality of unconstitutional rule. Nothing surpasses ensuring that our democracy survives,” he said.

Nwankwo emphasized that the country must go beyond optimism and actively work toward electoral reforms.

He also faulted the internal structures of political parties, saying that a lack of internal democracy and fairness remains widespread.
