PDP Remains Most Organised Party in Nigeria Despite Setbacks

PDP Chieftain Dismisses Relevance Claims, Says Party is United and Strong

In a bold statement, Chief Bode George, a prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria, has rejected claims that the opposition party has lost its relevance. Describing those behind such assertions as "first-class dreamers," George expressed confidence in the PDP’s strength and organization, citing its deep-rooted structures and camaraderie.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George emphasized that the PDP remains the most organized party in the country, with established political structures that its rivals lack. "No way; those are dreamers. I’m telling you they are first-class dreamers," he said, highlighting the party’s unique strengths. "In political management, ownership structure, camaraderie–what we have in the PDP, they don’t have. Why do I keep calling our party the Iroko political party of Nigeria? Because the taproot is so deep-rooted."

George’s comments come amid growing speculation about the PDP’s strength and recent defections ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, he assured Nigerians that the party has put its internal crisis behind it, following an agreement reached at the 100th National Executive Committee meeting. "Let me reassure Nigerians that there’s no organisation in the world where you won’t have a crisis," he said. "If you have disagreements, the more sensible thing to do is get back to your family, lock the doors and tell yourself some truth, debate and discuss, but in the end you must come out united, and that’s what we’ve achieved."

With the party now united and focused on the upcoming elections, George extended an invitation to all Nigerians, saying, "Welcome back home, and your house is ready to receive all of you." His message is clear: the PDP is back on track, and its members are committed to working together to achieve their goals. As the 2027 general elections approach, it remains to be seen how the PDP’s newfound unity will impact the political landscape in Nigeria. One thing is certain, however: Chief Bode George and the PDP are ready to face the challenges ahead, united and strong.
