Benue PDP warns members against associating with coalition

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State has warned members and supporters of the party not to associate with the coalition movement in the state.

This was contained in a statement Tuesday, by the State Secretary of the Party, Dan Nyikwagh.

He described the coalition as an attempt by “opportunistic politicians” to deceive its supporters by falsely linking the movement to the party.

The statement read in part: “The PDP in Benue State has no affiliation with this coalition.

“We urge our members to remain loyal and not be misled by individuals who abandoned the party but are now seeking relevance by using the party’s name.”

Nyikwagh accused the promoters of the coalition of being “absent and irrelevant” during past elections and party congresses, yet attempting to ride on the popularity of PDP leaders to gain support.

“If they are truly popular, let them campaign based on their own records, not by hiding behind the legacy of our party.”

The party reaffirmed Chief Samuel Ortom’s commitment to the party and his role in strengthening it ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Nyikwagh urged members to disregard any invitations to join the coalition and remain steadfast under the PDP’s umbrella.
