2027: El-Rufai confirms coalition has adopted ADC, Aregbesola appointed interim secretary

The National Opposition Coalition Group has formally adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as its political base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They have also appointed a former governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola, as ADC’s interim national secretary.

This was confirmed by the immediate past Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, who posted Aregbesola’s acceptance speech on X Tuesday night.

The statement read in part: “As The National Secretary, I will work to build a party that has a clear ideological compass.

“A party that is absolutely committed to the people, rooted in democratic values, rule of law, social justice, accountability, transparency and national development.

“A party that listens and works for to the people, not only during elections, but every single day.”

Aregbesola also said “this is not an easy task. It will take time. It will demand sacrifice. But it can be done.”
