2027: David Mark, Aregbesola, Abdullahi get positions as coalition adopts ADC

The opposition coalition on Tuesday, adopted the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as its political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

This is a major step in their efforts to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The coalition also announced some of the interim leaders and members of the party.

Already, former Senate President, David Mark, has been installed as national chairman, while the immediate past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, will be the national secretary.

Ex-Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, was appointed as spokesperson of the party.

The coalition had tried to register a new party, All Democratic Alliance, ADA, after initial talks with ADC and Social Democratic Party, SDP, had broken down.

But when it appeared their attempts to register ADA might be frustrated by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the coalition resumed talks with ADC.

The formal unveiling is scheduled to hold at 2pm on Wednesday.
