The stage is set for the 8th African Nations Championship, CHAN, 2025, and Nigeria’s Super Eagles B squad is gearing up for the tournament. Head Coach Eric Chelle has released a 35-man provisional list, featuring key players such as captain Junior Nduka and Papa Daniel Mustapha, who are expected to play crucial roles in the team’s preparations.
The CHAN tournament, scheduled to take place in August, will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the tournament is exclusive to players competing in their domestic leagues. This means that only home-based players will be competing, making it an exciting opportunity for local talent to shine.
The provisional list includes a mix of experienced and new players, with forward Anas Yusuf being a notable inclusion. Other established names in the Nigeria Premier Football League, such as first-choice goalkeeper Henry Ani, defenders Waliu Ojetoye and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, and midfielders Haddi Haruna and Saviour Isaac, have also made the cut.
Nigeria, who were runners-up in the 2018 CHAN tournament, have been placed in Group D of the 19-nation competition. They will face tough opponents, including title holders Senegal, Sudan, and Congo. The Super Eagles will play their first two group games against Senegal and Sudan at the Amman Stadium on Zanzibar Island, while their final group game against Congo will be played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that all invited players must report to the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun, on Monday. Players are required to bring their international passports and valid club licenses to camp. With a strong squad and a challenging group stage ahead, the Super Eagles B squad is ready to give it their all and make Nigeria proud.
The provisional Super Eagles B Squad consists of 35 players, including goalkeepers Henry Ani, Kayode Bankole, and Ebenezer Harcourt, defenders Sodiq Ismaila, Waliu Ojewole, and Junior Nduka, midfielders Adebayo Olamilekan, Adejoh Ojonugwa, and Haddi Haruna, and forwards Anas Yusuf, Adamu Abubakar, and Godwin Obaje. With a good balance of experience and youth, the team is looking forward to a successful tournament.
