Anambra ADC Candidate John Nwosu Backs 2027 Coalition, Vows Tech-Driven Reforms

Anambra Poll: LP guber aspirant, Nwosu dismisses Moghalu's emergence as candidate

Anambra State’s African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate, John Nwosu, has voiced confidence in a growing political coalition’s ability to reshape Nigeria’s future, positioning the alliance as pivotal to rescuing the nation from its current challenges. His remarks came during a campaign launch event in Awka, where he outlined his vision for governance and criticized the state’s current administration under Governor Charles Soludo.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by his running mate, Dr. Ndubuisi Nwobu, Nwosu framed the ADC’s alliance with other parties as part of a broader strategy to “salvage Nigeria” ahead of the 2027 general elections. While emphasizing that he did not initially join the ADC for the coalition, he argued that the partnership—composed of defectors from various parties—had gained significant momentum. “Every day, people resign from other parties to join this movement,” he told journalists. “The coalition isn’t just a theory—it’s already reshaping politics here in Anambra.”

Though he acknowledged the coalition’s role in amplifying the ADC’s reach, Nwosu denied relying solely on it to secure victory in the upcoming governorship race. The party, he noted, has operated independently for 18 years. Still, he positioned the Anambra election as a litmus test for the alliance’s national viability, framing it as a precursor to reclaiming federal power.

Nwosu sharply criticized the Soludo administration, claiming the state is plagued by “crude tax drives” and insecurity, which he attributed to poor governance. He referenced aggressive tax collectors, locally termed aka odo people, as emblematic of systemic dysfunction. “Anambra is not working,” he said, pledging to prioritize technology-driven reforms. As CEO of Jetlink, an ICT firm, Nwosu vowed to deploy digital tools to overhaul security within six months, alongside introducing e-governance systems to enhance transparency. His proposed blueprint, the SHEEMS model, aims to streamline public services and economic planning.

While critics may question the feasibility of such rapid reforms, Nwosu’s messaging underscores a deepening focus on coalition-building and technocratic solutions in Nigerian politics. His campaign taps into widespread frustration over economic strain and security woes, themes resonating beyond Anambra as national elections approach. Analysts note that the ADC’s alliance-building mirrors strategies used by opposition groups in recent African elections, though its success likely hinges on unifying disparate factions under a cohesive agenda.

As Nwosu’s coalition courts disillusioned voters, the coming months will test whether his promises of renewal can translate into electoral gains—or if longstanding party loyalties will prevail.
