Ex-NANS President Asefon mobilises students for Tinubu/Shettima

Ahead of the 2023 general election, the support base, acceptance and endorsement of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have continued to expand across the states.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by Tunde Rahman of Tinubu Media Office said endorsements came from various quarters for the former Lagos State governor.

Among the critical stakeholders in the state who endorsed Asiwaju Tinubu were the Northern Business Leaders, Kano Academic Community, Tijjaniyyah, Ahlus Sunnah, Kadirriyyah Movement, Kano League of Imams, Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Zone A and the leadership of the state’s chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Endorsing Asiwaju Tinubu at a dinner with the Business Leaders and Captains of Industry, the Chairman of Kano Business Community Council, Alhaji Rabiu Bako, said the APC candidate stood out among the presidential contenders because of his deep understanding of the economy, his private sector background and track record as Lagos State governor.

Also, Sheikh Bashir Tijjani Usman Zangon Bareebah, who spoke on behalf of Tijjaniyyah Muslims community, urged Asiwaju Tinubu to prioritise security and safety of the people.

In a communiqué signed by its Chairman, Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa, and General Secretary, Malam Sani Mohammed, and presented to Asiwaju Tinubu, the Nigeria Academic Community Forum in Kano State said the forum was moved to back the APC candidate because he has shown concern for the down-trodden, transparency, accountability, integrity and selflessness.

Asiwaju Tinubu thanked the groups for the endorsements, saying he had noted their words of encouragement and demands.

Also, the immediate past President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Sunday Asefon, has begun nationwide mobilisation of students to support Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidential bid and ensuring his victory in the 2023 general election.

Asefon unveiled a support group, “Tinubu/Shettima Students Vanguard” yesterday in Abuja.

Asefon, who is a member of the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC, said he would coordinate the new group.

He told reporters at the unveiling ceremony, which attracted thousands of students, that the aim of the group was to actualise the victory of the APC at the presidential poll.

he former NANS president said the group would sensitise, educate and mobilise all registered students voters on all the campuses in the country to participate in forming good governance.

He said: “Nigeria is in need of a visionary leader, a deep thinker, a man who can take our country on a journey of prosperity. Nigeria needs a man of ideas who will not just talk his way but really get things done. We have no doubt that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is capable of this. That is why we are supporting his campaign to lead Nigeria.

“As far as we are concerned, we are here to say it loud and clear: we are in support of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s ambition. Nigerian students are solidly behind him. He is our first choice, the second choice and the third choice for the exalted seat. We beckon on all Nigerians to join us in this journey.

“The unveiling of the largest students’ movement is targeted towards the actualisation of the ‘Renewed Hope’ mandate of Tinubu/Shettima 2023 presidency project.”

Also, another political support group, Cityboy Ambassadors, has urged Nigerians, especially those in the Southwest, to beware of betrayals and deceits ahead of the 2023 polls.

The group said this is necessary to actualise the presidential bid of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 poll.

It said its mission to work for the election victory of Asiwaju Tinubu, adding that this is a project that the Almighty God had completed.

Cityboy Ambassadors said the group’s members would not allow any antics to stop its mission.

The support group cautioned the region to avoid the repeat of what happened to the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and business mogul, Bashorun Moshood Olawale Abiola.

It stressed that Nigeria needs someone with Asiwaju Tinubu’s pedigree, capability, track records and network to lift the nation higher.

The group’s Southwest Zonal Director Raji Olawale said selling the Asiwaju Tinubu candidacy is an easy task.

According to him, the former Lagos State governor is a household name that is synonymous with development and progress.
