TCN, Kano govt resolve legal obstacle to Kumbotso-Rimin Zakara 330 kV electricity project

TCN announces 120MW addition to national grid

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Kano Region and the Kano State Ministry of Land said they have resolved the legal disputes which stalled the Kumbotso–Rimin Zakara 330 kV transmission line project.

TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah disclosed in a statement on Friday.

According to her, the agreement was reached in a meeting on July 21, 2025.

The meeting was convened to address litigation surrounding land ownership and compensation.

She noted that after the meeting, the Kano government agreed to compensate individuals concerned.

“Under the terms of the agreement, the Kano State Government will compensate individuals whose cases remain under legal consideration and provide alternative land to affected parties”, the statement reads.

TCN added that the development is a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to further strengthen the national grid.
