Barau FC signs experienced NPFL duo Ambrose, Okoko

Barau FC, the newly promoted Nigerian side preparing for their maiden Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign, has bolstered their squad significantly. The club has secured the services of two experienced players, Jimmy Ambrose and Emmanuel Okoko Jr., aiming to build a competitive team for their debut top-flight season.

Ambrose arrives from fellow NPFL club Plateau United, while Okoko Jr. joins from Katsina United. The combined experience of the duo is substantial, between them they have accumulated over 200 appearances in the NPFL during their careers with previous clubs, bringing valuable know-how to Barau FC’s first venture into Nigeria’s top tier.

This recruitment effort complements the recent appointment of experienced coach Ladan Bosso as the club’s technical adviser. Bosso’s hiring was a crucial step ahead of the club’s historic entry into the NPFL, signaling a serious approach to their inaugural campaign.

Barau FC will face a formidable challenge to open their NPFL history. They are scheduled to play eighth-time NPFL champions Enyimba in their first fixture. This encounter sets an immediate high bar for the promoted side, testing their readiness and depth against one of the country’s most successful clubs.

The eagerly anticipated 2025/26 NPFL season is set to kick off on Friday, August 22nd. Barau FC’s management, strengthened by these signings and Bosso’s leadership, will be keen to make a positive impression from the outset in the highly competitive Nigerian football landscape.
