Nigerian Army Boosts Morale, Assesses Welfare of Troops in Northeast Operations
In a display of commitment to soldiers’ well-being, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Major General AB Abubakar, visited troops in northeast Nigeria, according to a statement by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations.
The visit, part of an operational assessment, aimed to fortify the resilience and fighting spirit of troops in Sector 2, including Damaturu, Geidam, and various forward operation bases. General Abubakar lauded the troops’ tenacity and resolve, urging them to maintain discipline, aggression, and persistent offensive operations to utterly defeat terrorism and restore peace in the region.
The Commander relayed a message from Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, endorsing excellence in the line of duty. He also reminded troops to adhere to the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s social media policy and express concerns through proper military channels.
During the visit, General Abubakar inaugurated new and renovated projects, toured Army Logistics Base 3, Level II Field Hospital Damaturu, and inspected troops’ deployments and combat support facilities. A highlight of the visit was the promotion and decoration of Inspector MD Yusuf to Assistant Superintendent II of Police.
Accompanied by senior military officials, including Acting Commander Sector 2 OPHK, Brigadier General Beyedi Martins, the Theatre Commander underscored the Military High Command’s commitment to soldiers’ welfare, feeding, and well-being.
This visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s efforts to boost morale and ensure the well-being of its troops in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency in the northeast.
