Nigerian music producer Samuel Oguachuba, known professionally as Samklef, has publicly responded to his feud with social media activist Verydarkman amid ongoing tensions linked to the death of late Afrobeat artist Mohbad. In a recent video statement, Samklef dismissed rumors that Verydarkman paid 20 million naira (approximately $13,000) to acquire details of a private group chat allegedly involving celebrities connected to Mohbad’s case. He asserted the leak originated internally, stating, “The person who leaked the chat was inside the group.”
The producer expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of recognition from both Mohbad’s family and the broader music industry for his advocacy. “If Mohbad’s father is silent, why should I be fighting? I have no personal interest here,” he said, questioning the criticism he faced despite claims of pursuing justice. Samklef referenced the recent judicial clearance of musicians Naira Marley and Sam Larry—previously linked to Mohbad’s controversial circumstances—asking, “Did you see me ranting online about their release?” He alleged collective opposition from industry peers, remarking, “The whole industry ganged up against me.”
Calling for de-escalation, Samklef emphasized that prolonged conflict would not resolve the tragedy. “Revenge isn’t a solution—it will only drag things on. Mohbad’s soul isn’t at rest yet,” he urged, appealing for unity ahead of the late singer’s burial. His remarks highlight the growing divide among figures tied to the case, which has fueled public speculation since Mohbad’s untimely passing in September 2023. While investigations continue, the discourse underscores tensions between grassroots activism, industry dynamics, and the quest for accountability in high-profile Nigerian cases.
