Nigeria’s Lagos State Judiciary Launches 2025/2026 Legal Year with Interfaith Thanksgiving Services and Summit
The Lagos State Judiciary has officially unveiled its programme of events to mark the beginning of the 2025/2026 Legal Year, under the leadership of Chief Judge Justice Kareem Olanrewaju Alogba. The ceremonies, designed to promote unity and seek divine guidance, will kick off on Monday, September 22, 2025, with interfaith thanksgiving services at the Central Mosque and Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina.
Scheduled to commence simultaneously at 10:00 a.m., these interfaith services are meant to strengthen ties between the judiciary and the community, emphasizing the judiciary’s commitment to upholding justice and its constitutional duties. With the motto of deepening the rule of law and expanding access to justice, this launch ceremony underscores Lagos’ ambition to establish itself as a model for judicial excellence in Nigeria.
The following day, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, will see the convening of the 2025/2026 Legal Year Summit at the Shell Zenith Bank Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. This summit will unite prominent figures in the law community, including judges, lawyers, policymakers, and stakeholders, to discuss pressing concerns and newfound possibilities within the realm of justice. The summit will also provide a platform for ideating on ways to improve the current system and accelerating Lagos State Judiciary’s mission to become a beacon of judicial distinction.
