Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Offers Condolences Following Devastating Boat Accident in Sokoto State

A tragic boat accident occurred on Sunday at the Kojiyo River in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Nigeria, leaving numerous families in grief. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sokoto State chapter, has expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims who lost their lives in the incident.

According to a statement issued by Hassan Sanyinnawal, the party’s state Publicity Secretary, the PDP urged authorities to intensify rescue operations to account for those still missing and provide urgent support to affected families. The party stressed the importance of prioritizing safety measures on waterways to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Sanyinnawal emphasized the party’s commitment to collaborating with relevant agencies to ensure that the victims’ families receive necessary assistance. “To the bereaved families, may the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may their loved ones find solace in the outpouring of love and support from well-meaning Nigerians during this difficult time,” he said.

The incident occurred when a boat carrying 51 passengers, goods, and motorcycles capsized at the Kojiyo River. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the rescue of 26 persons on Monday, while the search for 25 missing passengers remains ongoing.

The PDP assured the people of Sokoto State of its solidarity, sharing in their grief and praying for the safe recovery of those still unaccounted for. The party’s statement serves as a call to action for the government to take necessary measures to improve the safety of riverine communities and prevent such incidents from recurring.

As the search and rescue operations continue, the people of Sokoto State and the nation at large remain in a state of shock and mourning, hoping for a swift resolution and support for the affected families.
